Old or unused ropes can be used to create some lovely, fashion inspired DIY projects. These hanging rope shelves were inspired by Proenza Schouler, and would be perfect for a bathroom, or even the kitchen. These ropes also come in some really beautiful color combinations.
The beautiful shelf is made out of precut wood planks, rope, and a bit of nautical hardware.
Materials used for this rope shelf include four 6-to-8 foot lengths of 5/8 inch rope, four 6-to-8 foot lengths of 1-inch rope, 2 wooden shelves, a drill, a ½ inch spade bit, some paint, two hooks, a pair of scissors, and a lighter for singeing the ends of the rope, to prevent fraying.
